TFA Alternate version: Poe isn't captured by Ren on Jakku, but instead he is captured the next day by Finn who stayed behind after the fighting due to being unable to cope with Slip's death and the fighting in general (similar to the film).
Angry at Poe for killing Slip, Finn initially plans to bring Poe back to the Finalizer, if they can survive the desert crossing together.
Poe thinks the Finn is nothing more than any other dumb Stormtrooper following orders, and spends most of the time trying to antagonize him and get a rise out of his faceless captor in order to escape. Both end up relying on the other for survival and of course learn not to judge a book by its cover (ect, ect)
