Snoke bribes Kylo to succeed in his newest rounds of training and missions by rewarding him with Hux. Hux has been demoted but Snoke keeps him as incentive, using inventive ways to abuse him physically, mentally and emotionally. The abuse is convenient in also it punishes Hux for his failures. The faster Kylo succeeds the less damage Hux takes.
