Post-war, I would imagine Finn and Poe would adopt lots of adorable little kids who otherwise would have grown up to be Stormtroopers. They, through their enduring love and patience, manage to normalize these kids but that doesn't mean they ignore or try to forget what the kids' pasts were like. Instead, like they did with Finn, they turn a traumatic experience into strengths.
As the galaxy rebuilds post-war, I would see them both being in powerful positions, and as such, sort of painting targets on their backs. Except the people who are after them have no idea that their kids aren't targets you really wanna mess with.
A would-be kidnapper (or gang of kidnappers) learns this the hard way. The Dameron kids are definitely their fathers' children.
