When Kylo/Ben left Snoke for the Resistance he knew they weren't going to kill him (yet), what he had to offer, both in information and in skills was too valuable. He also knew that the odds of them keeping him imprisoned were low. They didn't have the resources to spare waste a fully trained Force user in a cell.
But he knew if he was taken in he was going to be at the very bottom of the totem pole. At the bottom of the totem pole and on everybody's shit list.
He knew that going in, he was prepared for it (better than he deserved anyway). But the thing is he knows what someone in his position could have expected in the knights of Ren, to a lesser extend in the First Order's forces. Not the Resistance. He hasn't been under Republic authority since he was a child and he was a civilian then.
The leniency is disconcerting.
Bonus: Ben is familiar with the concept of Not Snitching but ends up doing it by accident because he hadn't realized that certain behaviors were not considered acceptable.
Redeemed!Ben knew things were not going to be easy or pleasant when he joined the Resistance
