kylo and hux have a somewhat fledgling relationship, and they're both kind of blundering along and it's...it's pretty good. (kylo fucking loves it and dates are fascinating and going to sleep in the same bed and having shared dreams??? it's all so cool!)

so he's sneaking back to Hux's room a bit early, wants to surprise him or some shit, and hears him on the comm. no problem, he'll just creep in.

the he hears it. "gotten tiresome already", "I didn't expect him to be so dull" and "he'll be 'let go' soon enough, I just need to find a replacement"

and of course he's not talking about kylo (someone he's hired is an absolute joke) but that's not what kylo sees. he just connects the dots and just spends the entire night trying to commit everything to memory because for all he knows, it'll be the last time.

a sweet resolution would make my life, honestly
