I can see Hux gawking at the deer, amazed, he's spent his whole life on sterile spaceships and in brutal academies, he's never been this close to large wildlife before and he's awestruck by the glory of nature -- so he pulls out his blaster and shoots the deer between the eyes. Filthy distracting thing.
