Poe's parents set him up with Finn, and he hates how they're always meddling in his love life. Not everyone can have the big epic love that they do, after all. And while Finn is SUPER hot, Poe also assumes (wrongly) that Finn was bullied into this whole dating set up, since Finn just started working for Poe's dad and Poe thinks Finn only agreed to the date because he didn't want to piss off his new boss. So Poe strikes a deal with Finn, who seems cool: They'll hang out, pretend to date for a few weeks, then tell Poe's mom and dad that they didn't work out but parted amicably and are still friends. That way they'll be off Poe's back for a little while, and Finn can go to work without risking the stink-eye for breaking the boss's son's heart.

Finn is disappointed Poe isn't interested in him, but agrees to help Poe out because he's too nice, and he's new to the city and could use a friend either way. (Even though having a friend he's totally hot for could be a problem one day.)
