Mitaka doesn't get choked, but someone (29, also scary) manages to fall of the bunk above and roll enough to squish him. How is this his life? They hot bunk and he only has two hours left before he has to get up for his shift. He would have switched bunks if they asked but he was too busy trying to cover his head with his standard issue First Order pillow, which smells like the horrible aftershave the second shift occupant slathers on. Why? Why? Why?
