After the battle with Rey, Kylo loses his memory and is captured by the resistance. He doesn't remember anything about his past, who he is or what he has done. The doctor's say that there is a 90 percent change that he never will get his memory back. Leia sees that as a chance to give Kylo, to give her Ben, a new life. They make him take force-suppressants - to eliminate him being a threat and to block Snoke out. However these make Ben feel nauseous and dizzy and weak.

Ben after the memory loss is different, reversed and barely there. His mind wandering. And although he can't remember anything - he slowly starts having nightmares about what he has done. Fragments which make him waking about screaming, bathing in sweat every night. He is kept away from the rest of the people, who only see him as a danger and want him killed. Ben does not understand why they hate him or what has he done but something tells him that he deserves it. He fells constantly guilty without knowing why.

Poe is ordered to guard Ben - the man-child with the too dark eyes and who killed dozens of people. At first Poe is reluctant - sees only the murder in him but slowly he realizes that there is more to kylo ren what meets the eyes.
