First his super weapon goes into meltdown, then he has to go pick up his underlings from the jams they've gotten in(how did Phasma end up in a trash compactor for kriff's sake??) so he can go drag Kylo Ren's heavy yet firm ass out of the kriffing woods before the planet goes nova. Hux is grumpy, annoyed at the tactical setback and just so damn tired of clearing up other people's messes, but he's still going to get the job done, and certainly not because he has any feelings for any of the people needing rescued. Not at all.
