General Organa needs to know that she can trust her star pilot to obey her orders absolutely, even when it involves putting her needs/the needs of the Resistance above his own... no matter how desperate he is.

And if he sometimes fails - if he sometimes gives in and/or loses control... well, she will have to speak to him about that, no matter how uncomfortable it makes him. (Author can decide what "speaking to him" entails.)
