Ben goes back to the side of the light, and works on making amends, righting wrongs, apologizing, and bringing down the first order. Not everyone likes him, but people seem willing to listen to his apologies. Except, weirdly, for Poe. Poe normally is a forgiving guy, and Ben apologizes about the torture but Poe says it's not enough. See, Poe can work past that, but what he can't is how fast Leia forgave Ben for causing her YEARS worth of heartbreak. (Leia's his hero, after all.) Cue Ben trying everything he can to make things right, or at least get Poe to understand he really is going to stay good.

In a fit of desperation, Ben swears he'll do anything -- and he does mean he'll do anything to get Poe to take him seriously. When Poe figures out he's serious he takes Ben up on that promise.

Ben's REALLY gotta earn his chance to apologize.
