Hi I'm here from Les Miserables fandom and I'm here to talk to you about Space Revolution.
No but seriously, Poe was raised in the Resistance, his mom was a Rebel fighter, his family goes way back in the history of Star Wars anti-fascism, dude is an Old Republic fucking tankie. He may have a breezy, devil-may-care exterior, but you can't convince me that Poe isn't driven by absolute passion for the ideals of the movement, and he isn't shy about vocalizing that passion. I want to see Poe giving stirring impromptu speeches about the innate rights of all sentient life, preserving the diversity of cultures, the duty of all good people to oppose tyranny and take arms against it, you get the idea. His hair may be doing a majestic thing while he does so, too.
I'm open to whatever context but, being StormPilot trash on a personal level, the way I would write it is this: every once in a while Finn drops some enraging and/or heartbreaking bit of information about his previous life in the First Order. Poe, with his excellent people skills, can tell that Finn doesn't want a big deal made about these revelations, so he mostly swallows his reactions and does his best to be comforting in a low-key way, but it gets harder as his feelings for Finn grow stronger, and finally Finn tells him about something that he was taught/something that was done to him that just completely beyond the pale and Poe snaps and launches into a righteous goddamn jeremiad about the evils of the First Order and how they're going to burn them to the fucking ground and let history bury them.
And Finn is of course very stunned/impressed/intimidated/turned on, and everyone else in Poe's squadron is just like oh my god, shut up, we heard this last week can we just talk about cool planes and shit now
Gen or Poe/Finn or Poe/Any, Poe + Ideology
