Just a passerby anon here, but I saw your comment on flat view. Now that I'm over my initial D8 reaction...
I wouldn't worry about it being a WIP for a while. After checking the main thread, it looks like you've got thousands of words already and are willing to let it become a full novel-length story if needed. That alone, your dedication as you said, will keep readers coming back for more.
As for your question, you could do AO3 if you already post things there. I've seen kinkmeme stories elsewhere that were updated for a full year or more at the original thread at the comm (and then archived at another site later). I don't think it's a big deal either way. If people really enjoy a story, then they'll take whatever way to read it they freaking can. ;)
Lastly, good luck with your treatments! It sounds awful and scary, but hopefully it'll show positive results soon. ♥
