Loved the prompt, giving it a go!

The stars here didn’t look anything like the stars on Jakku. They weren’t the same.

No, that wasn’t true, many of them were the same stars, just seen from a new angle. There’d been a lot of change for her lately, and while a difference in the night sky was the least of them, Rey still felt more cast adrift than she’d felt since leaving Jakku.

Staring at the stars was the only thing—paradoxically—that helped her feel grounded after the day she’d had.

She had held out the Lightsaber to Luke, and then the hair on the back of her arms prickled up at the power she felt. The Lightsaber stirred in her hands, though she knew instinctively it was not because he wanted it from her. She’d held her breath, subconsciously leaned forward, trying to open up her senses to Force, trying to drink it all in—
And then he’d dropped his hand, and she let out her breath in a quick, hard huff.

“It isn’t time,” he said, and turned away again.

“Wh…What do you mean,” she asked. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go, and she shook her head to try and clear it.

“It means…” Luke trailed off. Rey dared to take a step forward.

“I need you,” she said. “You’re the only one that can help me. You’re the only hope I have of learning.”

He bowed his head at that, and she stumbled to a stop. This was *the* Luke Skywalker she was talking to, if he said it wasn’t time, maybe it wasn’t…
But that couldn’t be right either. She knew it was time, she felt it in her bones, and she felt it in the eddies of air around her. She felt it in the way the island had sung to her as soon as she set foot there. It wasn’t disquieting, it felt right

“I know you didn’t want to take any students after…” she faltered there, but continued on. “After Ben. After Kylo Ren. But he needs to be stopped. I didn’t have the strength to stop him before he killed…”

“You have the strength,” his gravelly voice voice broke through her own faltering one. “More strength then he has. More purpose. I see that in you.” He stopped, and looked out into the sea. “I knew you were coming, I had hoped to have more time.”

Rey stared at him, confused. “So, you’re not turning me away.”
“You are more determined than I was, at your age” he said, turning back towards her. She saw the hint of a smile in his expression, and it broke through the awe she felt at being in his presence. It humanized him a little, and she smiled back at the light and humor she saw in him. “And I see that I am to be a teacher again.”

“Really? Oh, yes! Thank you—” she could barely contain her excitement. How was she supposed to act right now? All she wanted to do was run and jump, to give him a hug, and then tell Finn about everything… That is, when he woke up. She settled for more words. “Thank you, Master, thank you!”
Now Luke really did smile, and it changed his whole face. She saw some of his sister, the general, in him now. “It will not be easy, but I see you understand hard work. Very well. We have much to discuss.”

He’d spent much of the day just walking her around the island, and telling her to stop and listen, hushing her when she started asking to many questions with the promise that he would answer all he could… In time. Even though she wasn’t sure what he had taught her, she still felt like her head was stuffed with new information to take in. And that’s why when she had tried to go to sleep in a tent that Luke had provided her with, she had failed. That’s why she had finally drug her sleeping gear out into the open air, so that she could stare at the stars, both so familiar and so different. She wished she could talk to someone about this, share her excitement with someone who might understand…

I wish Finn was here, she thought, with a pang of hurt and worry. I wish… but she was too tired to keep worrying like that, and let her eyes drift close.

She didn’t notice when the stars in the night sky turned into the stars of her dreams.

She was flying the Millennium Falcon again, and she knew she needed something desperately, though she wasn’t quite clear on what. She wheeled the ship around, and saw a huge aircraft of the First Order. Aha, she thought. This is where I need to go.

Before she could move any more, hundreds of stormtrooper ships swarmed in from all around her. She bit her lip, and throttled forward, darting this way and that. Most ships moved out of her way, but one darted in front of her, and she could see the gun port aim, and the storm trooper in the ship look straight at her

“No!” she screamed, and jerked the ship aside. Somehow the ship stayed right in front of her. She tried to jerk aside again, and then again but nothing happened. She narrowed her eyes, and reached for the gun controls, when she heard a shout.

“Rey!” She heard, and it was so familiar. She leaned forward over the ships console, and placed her hands against the glass, hoping to get a better look. There, she could see now, the stormtrooper took off his helmet, and she saw Finn’s eyes staring at her.

“Finn!” she screamed back, never doubting that he could hear her from his ship.

“Help me, help me!” His eyes were open so wide that they were more white than pupil, saw how ashen his lips looked, and she remembered his words from the cantina. Never again, he’d said. He didn’t ever want to be a part of the First Order again. She glanced around herself, and back towards the massive ship of the first order. Somehow they must have gotten Finn again, and she wasn’t going to let them get away with it.

“That’s what I’m here for,” she screamed back. “Follow me!”
Ten or twenty or a hundred ships came at them then, and each one was aiming for Finn.

“No, no no no!” She cried again. She wasn’t going to let this happen. She punched a few button, aimed the guns and managed to get a few of the Stormtrooper ships, but more and more kept coming. They’d both be overwhelmed soon, if it kept going like this, and they’d take Finn from her again. She couldn’t let that happen. But she felt so powerless, except…
The Force… This is what it was for. Helping people.

She stopped punching buttons on the console and instead focused on the ships. Having something to focus on calmed her. She watched Fin scream again, heard it ring in her ears, but she didn’t let it break her focus. “I said… No,” she gritted out, and then she yanked, using only her will power and something from inside of her. She pulled the stormtrooper ships away from her and Finn one at a time, and then several at a time as she got more comfortable using the Force. It was so easy, almost too easy. It was the same thrill of power she’d felt when she’d made the Lightsaber come to her, before her battle with Kylo Ren. It was almost a euphoria, she could get intoxicated on a power like this…
But she wasn’t doing this for fun, she was doing it to help Finn.

She cleared a path, and then shouted “Follow me!” Finn followed her in his ship as she wheeled around, and they were both quickly out of range of the Stormtroopers. They sped past the stars, until everything was a blur of light.

Something didn’t seem right, she still felt like she was searching for something, but she wasn’t sure what. Finn? Or was it Luke?
“It’s Jakku,” said Finn’s voice in her ear, and she saw he’d taken the co-pilot seat, and was pointing down at a planet they were approaching. She smiled in relief.

“Good, let’s go down there, I think someone is waiting for me.” Rey pulled the ships nose down, and then they were gliding very familiar sand, and they bumped to a stop near the old wreck.

“I’m glad I found you Finn,” She said, turning to look at him.

“And boy, I’m glad you’re here,” he said back. “When did you get so powerful?”

“I didn’t, I’ve only just started training with…” With Luke, she remembered, on the planet Ahch-To. What was she doing here? She looked sharply at Finn. “What’s going on?”

“What do you mean,” he asked, and he looked so honestly confused, that she believed him instantly.

“It’s just…” She looked up at the stars of Jakku, but they didn’t look right. She remembered laying down on the stones and grass of a different planet, she remembered trying to fall asleep.

“Whoa, don’t do that, be careful,” Said Finn, reaching out to grab her shoulder, like he was trying to hold her down.

“Do what,” asked Finn, looking at him again.

“That thing you just did. You sort of flickered.”

“I did?” She looked down at herself, but nothing seemed strange.

“Yes. Don’t leave me again.”

“I won’t, why would I leave?” Rey felt confused, like there was something she’d forgotten. She looked out. They were on Jakku… Why were they on Jakku?

“There, you did it again,” Said Finn, stop it.

“Well, why…” She stopped and thought about it for a second. “Why aren’t you flickering?” It seemed like a completely reasonable question to her, but Finn looked confused.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, if we’re both here… If I’m dreaming…” This time she felt what Finn was talking about. She felt the little flicker, saw Finn’s face phase out and then in again. Now Finn looked absolutely terrified, and Rey felt awful.

“Don’t worry,” she said, projecting more confidence than she felt. “I’ll help you!”

She looked up at the sky, and at the same time she heard Finn say “Wait!” She opened up her mouth to respond, but when she tried to speak she felt herself pulled away to somewhere else. She felt the rocks under her, and the cold, real, bite of night air.

She was staring up at the Stars of Ahch-To, but she could still hear the echo of Finn’s voice ringing in her ears.

oooh, love the way Rey falls into Finn's mind, the not-quite-right logic that marks everything as not real, and poor lovely Finn trying to keep her with him is heartbreaking ;__;

This was heart-breakingly beautiful! Aww at them phasing out whenever they thought to hard about it being a dream. Is this a one shot or is there going to be more?
Also Luke and Rey's interactions were pretty sweet here.
